Cue up the dance floor, because Whitney Houston’s iconic ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)’ just claimed the crown as the most popular wedding song, according to Breezit, the wedding vendor search site. Whitney’s 1987 classic, which hit Billboard’s top spot and made her second album Whitney even more legendary, was the go-to tune on 484 wedding-themed playlists out of 2,000 Spotify lists analyzed by the site. That’s almost 50,000 songs, folks, and Whitney took the spotlight!
Coming in hot in second place? ABBA’s disco dynamo ‘Dancing Queen,’ which grooved onto 394 playlists. And holding down third, it’s Usher’s ‘Yeah!’ featuring Lil Jon and Ludacris—because every wedding needs at least one song where everyone throws their hands up and yells, “YEAH!”
Breezit’s CEO Arturas Asakavicius chimed in, saying, “Wedding playlists capture the joy of the dance floor and the romance of the aisle.” Gotta agree with him on that one—nothing brings the feels and the fun like a solid soundtrack.
(Side note: I always thought Whitney’s ‘Greatest Love of All’ might’ve made it to wedding playlists first, but hey, nothing says ‘I do’ like dancing your heart out with somebody who loves you.)
