As much as I try to do my part for the environment—recycling, using greener light bulbs, you name it—I’ve finally hit my breaking point. When, exactly, did bread companies decide we needed cardboard clips instead of the trusty plastic ones? And more importantly, when can we go back? Because today sounds like a good day for that.
Let’s be real, those clips had one job. And for as long as I can remember, they did it well. But in an effort to go green, these companies swapped them out, and now… we’re all just miserable. The cardboard ones hold up for maybe two uses, and after that, they’re practically falling apart! Keeping bread fresh has turned into a delicate operation where I have to treat that flimsy clip like I’m walking my grandma across an icy sidewalk—one wrong move and it’s game over.
I get it, save the planet and all, but can’t we do that without making bread storage an Olympic event?
