I’ll admit it—I was totally duped by a TikTok video recently, and I know I’m not the only one. The video claimed that the beloved U.S. fast-food chicken chain, Raising Cane’s, was finally making its way to Canada, with a few locations supposedly popping up in Alberta. My mouth was already watering just thinking about it. But now, straight from their head office, we’ve learned the harsh truth: it’s not happening. No Canadian locations, no crispy chicken goodness.

Seriously, how was I supposed to know that not everything online is true? It’s a real hit to the trust I had in the internet. But let’s address the bigger issue here: is it a little trashy that we get this excited about American fast-food chains? Or are we just financially responsible food connoisseurs?
